Sheriff Couvillon vs Dawn Marcelle

Published Agust 3rd, 2011

Ring….Ring….[morning of June 10, 2011]

“Vermilion Parish Sherriff’s Office”

“Hello, may I speak to Sheriff Couvillon?”

“Who may I say is calling?”

“This is Dawn Marcelle”

“One moment please”

“Sheriff Couvillon”

“Hello Sheriff Couvillon, my name is Dawn Marcelle, I’m pretty sure you are aware of who I am.”

“Yes, I know who you are.”

“Do you have some time to answer a few questions regarding the Sheriff’s election?”

“I don’t have time to answer any of your questions with the things you say about me on Topix”

“I’m not the only one who says things about you on Topix. Are you planning to run for re-election?”

“Yes, I am. And I don’t have anything to say to you”

“OK, would you tell me if you have a warrant out for my arrest?”

“I certainly do.”

“Well, that’s very curious. Is that how you always conduct business in the Sheriff’s Department? Ya just knee jerk an arrest warrant without investigating any facts?”

“Sammy LaPorte did the investigation”

“Well, Sammy never asked me any questions. He did write to me and tried to intimidate me but he did not ask me one single question or ask me to call his office. I wrote back to him immediately and invited him to ask any questions he wished but I never heard from him again or from anyone else in the VPSO. And that’s your idea of competent investigative work that would justify a warrant for my arrest?”

“Donnell Dent has given a statement about when you visited her”

“Yeah well, Donnell Dent has also changed her story at least eight different times. She even accused Chief Hardy of participating in a conspiracy against her. It seems that any competent police work should include a full investigation. You do realize that I called Homeland Security as soon as I got to town to let them know what my intentions were. I was also at the Abbeville Police station five minutes before I knocked on Donnell’s door and then I returned to the station minutes after I left Donnell’s property.”

Silence

“Is that really the best police work possible from the VPSO to knee jerk a warant without conducting an investigation? Really? That’s the best you can do?”

“When a citizen comes to the Sheriff’s office to report a crime we will not ignore it.”

“How do you know that a crime was committed if you never investigated it?”

Silence

“Alright, can you tell me how many tickets you fix every week?”

“Tcha….ubt…..you…..”

“Or is your MO for fixing a ticket merely to win a free blow job?”

Click.

Obviously, Sheriff Mike Couvillon didn’t have time to answer any of my questions. And that was the conclusion of my interview regarding his re-election bid for the Sheriff’s Office.

About three days later I posted the chapter called “Sheriff Couvillon and his Values”. Two days after I published, Couvillon put out a warrant for my arrest based on the lies from Donnell Dent made ten months earlier. Ten days after I posted that chapter I got a phone call from Lieutenant Sammy LaPorte. He left a message and asked me to call his office to answer questions regarding the allegations against me. He didn't bother to tell me that I had racked up a fugitive warrant for failure to appear in court that day. I was pretty busy at my day job and instead of calling him back, I sent him an email:

Dawn Marcelle to SammyLaPorte @vpso.net, June 24 , 2011 - just past midnight.

It's been a long day for me, I just now finished with a successful production check out for iPSM. We started at 4am. My boots are dry and I'll be on the trail before daylight tomorrow. Out of phone range until late Sunday night.

Then we start BP17 first thing Monday morning. I'm busy as hell, working in the Lab. First chance I'll have to call you will be around 9pm PDT on Monday night unless I can grab a long lunch break. Then again, I usually break the code real good. That means I have to wait for IT to re-write it so I can try to break it again.

We always roll code on major holidays. BP17 is rolling on fourth of July which means I have next week to perfect it. Probably 15 hour days in store for the near future. This BP is why I made sure to publish my latest chapter last week.

You certainly can't be in any rush for me to call you back. Those allegations against me were made a year or else years ago. Besides, you're only interested in the semantics of my writings as a concerned citizen of the good ole' USA. You said so yourself.

Sure, I'll answer any of your questions truthfully but I'm not about to go out of my way to do so, this late in your games. I'm busy with important business while you sit at your desk wringing your hands.

Reference this email from Sammy LaPorte that was written eight months before Couvillon wrote out a warrant:

I have questions regarding some of your writings since i'm a concerned citizen in this good ole' USA...

When I replied to Sammy's email, I never received a reply, no questions and not even a request for me to call his VPSO desk. Copied below is the first time Sammy LaPorte had the courage to reply back to me, four days after he had called and left a message and received my email.

From Sammy LaPorte to Dawn, June 27, 2011

Glad to see you received my phone message.  Even though the allegations were made last year, I am giving you the opportunity to give your side of the story, since you have not been afforded it and do not live in the area for a detective to go and speak to you.  My hours are M-F 08:30 to 16:30, not always in office, but leave message and I’ll return your call.

From Dawn Marcelle to Sammy LaPorte @vpso.net, June 28, 2011

Are you serious?

I was afforded the opportunity to tell my side of the story on October 19, 2010, when you first contacted me. But YOU weren't interested in hearing anything about my side of the allegations. Your only motivation was to intimidate me with your silly inquiry. So you see, I have the evidence that a VPSO detective....specifically YOU.....have had the ability to speak to me for the last 8 months. But only now do you show interest, one week after I published a chapter proving your incompetency right beside Sheriff Couvillon.

As I've already told you, I'm busy with important business and refuse to cancel a meeting or fail to deliver on my own responsibilities to suffice your whimsical demands. It's not my fault that you refuse to answer your phone after 2:30pm PDT.

Tell ya what, I've delivered my side of the story regarding Donnell Dent's accusations a hundred times and I've done so publicly. There's a signed, sealed and delivered version on my website, dawnmarcelle.com. I'll copy it below because I know you'll deny that you ever read it. You need to understand that I don't lie, I never lie, especially on my website. I have no reason to.

And once again, I'll be honest with you. I'm not inclined to engage a petty civil suit against Donnell Dent. However, I have the witnesses who hold impressive titles that will allow me to put the screws to the VPSO. Pretty please, just try me.

Dawn

At the end of that email, I copied the six month old chapter where I had already covered the Truth.

The Story Chapter: 'Mrs Culdesac and the Sheriff'  [insert]

One week after delivering BP17 successfully, I called Sammy LaPorte at his desk during my lunch hour. I talked to him for the whole hour. He read me my rights over the phone and then started asking benign questions. He really tried to get me to lie but…. I don’t lie. He couldn’t trip me up because I was telling the Truth. It’s really easy to remember the Truth, no matter how hard he tried to twist it.

However, Sammy made a few curious statements, like: “Donnell Dent is charging you with Criminal Trespass.”

Really? Donnell is charging me? I thought Donnell Dent was accusing me of Criminal Trespass and the DA’s office, specifically Mike Harson, was charging me while the VPSO was investigating a whole year after the incident.

Lieutenant Sammy LaPorte also told me that the VPSO had tried to serve me with a court date months before I spoke to him but they didn’t know where I lived. I explained that I’ve lived in the same place for over seven years. The address is on my tax return, my paycheck, my vehicle registration as well as my voter’s registration. Yeah sure, the VPSO knows how to conduct a competent investigation. I also told Sammy LaPorte that he could contact the FBI, the Washington State Patrol or the Mukilteo Police station, they all know where I live and how to find me.

My conversation with Lieutenant LaPorte ended with his intimidating declaration that I’d be served with a warrant for Criminal Trespass on Donnell Dent’s property. As I write this, a month has already gone by and apparently the VPSO still can’t find my address.

LOL!

I’ve had numerous people, including two lawyers, tell me to stay outta Vermilion. Everyone agrees that if I show up I will be arrested and put into the Vermilion Jail and they WILL hurt me. And then they cited examples of other people who were framed and falsely persecuted then physically accosted by the VPSO.

Thanks, Kirk. Cops have a hard time trying to prove they are honorable. Your contribution to Law Enforcement works against your brothers in blue.

And where is Donnell Dent today? She’s telling me and everyone else that she can’t wait to see me put in the Vermilion Jail within reach of the abusive hands of Sheriff Couvillon and his goons.

And where is Sheriff Couvillon today? He’s pretty much looking like the idiot that he is while he drinks himself under the table.

And where is Sammy LaPorte today? He is still sitting at his desk, wringing his hands.

This quote from Dale Broussard will ring true as long as Mike Couvillon is the sheriff:

“It is time to change the way we do business in Vermilion Parish especially inside the Sheriff's Office.”
